In Bar (Montenegro) from March 19th to March 26th . 2017, training for 24 participants from six countries was carried out within the framework of the “Roaming” project supported through the ERASMUS + program, aimed at developing the capacity of Roma civil society organizations in the Western Balkans, with the aim of more efficient use EU funds and EU acceptance of values and views, all through quality initiatives and advocacy processes. Improving the capacity of Roma civil society organizations has been recognized as necessary in order to support EU reforms, engage in the EU integration process, and become EU policymakers focused primarily on members of the Roma population.
The project is supported by the organization Young Roma from Montenegro, while the partners of the project are Out of the Box International from Brussels, Disutni Albania, Romaversitas Macedonia, Association of Roma Coordinators Serbia, Advancing Together Kosovo, Young Roma Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Training was focused on acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for project management, financial management and application procedures, priorities, establishment and development of partnerships, solving national problems through EU funds, as well as acquiring knowledge about other available funds, and mechanisms such as Erasmus +, IPA And EIDHR.
The continuation of the project will include the implementation of a program of internships of six representatives of Roma organizations in Brussels, the organization of laboratories for European-Roma initiatives in six countries, the final conference and the creation of a guide on strategies, funds and possible ways of lobbying Roma civil society organizations as well as the advice of young Roma to improve the inclusion process Roma in the Western Balkans by Roma civil society organizations. The leading organization will timely report about the mentioned activities.
